A Hole

The Sufi poet Shams-ud-din Muhammad Hafiz wrote about Christ:

I am
a hole in a flute
that the Christ's breath moves through-
listen to this

It's beautiful.

You know, the analogy of the church as an instrument works pretty well :)

That's neat Caitlin! Thanks for sharing. I have often been blessed by the depth of sufi poems--this is a new one to me. Hope to see you soon!

Empty. It is a challenging purpose - to remain empty. At times it seems that I clog the hole... opportunities for kindnesses ignored - unkind words that never should have been spoken...
But I suppose that is where the Musicians' soft cleaning rag comes in :)

I like musical analogies!
